A Harry Situation

The recent season ending knee injury to Falcon's receiver Harry Douglas would seem to handcuff the Falcons into a new deal with holdout receiver Roddy White. White and his agent are seeking numbers almost four times that of his current 2.28 million a year deal. The question that plagues me is; what impact did the loss of Douglas have on the Falcons to make them, now, have to pursue a second or third receiver even more aggressively? Harry Douglas, while still a third option at receiver and punt returner, was all but average. His quiet numbers might have suggested that he was, but his impact was felt immeasurably. The 23 (not claiming to pin point. If I'm wrong please correct me.) balls he caught last season weren't just numbers on a pad, but rather chain movers. His returning ability was second to none as well. Now the Falcon's will need to look else where if they hope to regain their once dynamic punt returns. Falcon's receiver Brian Finneran is the Falcon's best option to replace the injured Douglas. Finneran has returned punts before, but I don't have every confidence that he can provide that extra demension Douglas gave us. Finally, the Falcon's have running back Jarious Norwood. They would be crazy to put him back there or in the slot. The good thing is that it is still training camp, and I would hate to have had this happen in the first or second game. It'll all work out I'm sure. I'm off to work.

Keep following me. As you know the wide world of sport is filled with stories to weigh in on.

  1. Worry not fellow Falconeers! Sense the loss of Harry Douglas the Falcons recently signed long time Bear's receiver Marty Booker and cold weather veteran Robert Ferguson. Booker appears to be the best option of two sense Ferguson has only eclipsed Douglas' receptions per season by 16. I believe both will have an impact, and both will help the Falcons pursue their first ever back to back winning seasons.
